I've an older Toshiba Satellite LS laptop. Windows was able to download missing drivers from Windows Update service and everything installed after couple of reboots.
One of the update in the list is for upgrade which continues to fail. I can do a clean install of ISO file but at the end, most of my hardware drivers are failing and the worst part is the "Realtek RTL x Family Fast Ethernet NIC" does not work so Windows cannot connect to the internet and download any missing drivers.
Starting with and higher , it seems some data storage drivers are removed because doing a clean install throws "irql not less or equal" error before the first screen is shown to ask for language for the install.
It seems that newer versions of Windows 10 ISO files are missing drivers that were included in the older versions of Windows. Can someone tell me if there is a way to either download or export these windows drivers so that I can upgrade to the latest version of windows?
I would like to know, how I can slipstream the storage driver into the latest Windows ISO file so that it can continue with the install? Please not that I'm not even getting to the point where windows ask for loading a storage driver. This is why I need to know how to slip a storage driver. My reason to suspect a storage driver is related to the fact that installing gives yellow bangs next to PCI Standard Dual Storage driver in Device Manager.
I totally understand that I'm trying to work with an outdated hardware. Since worked, I was hoping future versions of Windows 10 will continue to work as well and now they don't and I need help. I know Toshiba is not officially supporting the upgrade but Windows 10 updated April was able to install itself properly and everything is working except the ATI Display driver.
The display now has some reduced functionality which I can live with. The laptop is still working and usable. Once the system was booted, I was presented with the following error. I also noticed that Windows 10 version is detecting additional hardware not detected by version which is a duplicate of the hardware already detected and installed.
This duplicate hardware has yellow bangs which is also causing some of the hardware which is only detected once to now install drivers or work properly. I don't understand what has changed between and that Windows is not detecting the hardware list properly which is causing all the problem.
I've tried doing a fresh clean install as well as installing all updates and then doing an upgrade, the experience and issues stay the same. The last good version of Windows 10 that installs and works properly is Starting with and also in , for both clean install or even an upgrade, Windows is not enumerating my devices correctly. For some reason, it sees duplicate devices and then complain that duplicate devices cannot be started properly due to resource issue either code 10 or code 12 in the driver details with a yellow bang next to these duplicate devices.
I was really hoping to get 17xx installed so that I can easily hide upgrades from getting installed and stuck in a loop. It seems for this old laptop, Windows have dropped the support and changed something in the hardware detection layer causing upgrade issues.
So my last question to you or anyone else who can help is, "for a Windows , how can I tell windows to stop upgrading but yet continue to install any updates as they become available? In the list of results, choose Check for updates. In the Settings menu, select the Check for updates button. Have you tried installing in Safe Mode with Networking?
